CORONAVIRUS UPDATE:

We are excited to announce that we will be holding in person High Holiday Services in Jericho, this year, as we have done for the past decade, with the same ENERGY, just with necessary adjustments.

MiYaD will be creating a meaningful, safe environment for all of our congregants so that we can pray as a community.

During this time G-d decides our fate, as individuals, as communities, and as a world. We therefore flock to the synagogue during this season, knowing the critical importance of our approaching G-d with prayer and teshuva to renew and recharge our connection to G-d and Torah. We refocus and set new ambitions for the coming year.

Now more than ever, the synagogue truly serves as the rallying point for the community, bringing us all together more than at any other time in the year. Men and women, young and old, come together in the synagogue for prayer and inspiration, to cry and to sing.

Due to the pandemic, this year we must plan for High Holidays that will be very different than usual. Yet it can be even better!

This year, more than ever, we need our prayers to be meaningful.

This year, more than ever, we need the spiritual renewal that this season provides.

This year, more than ever, we need to strengthen the bonds and the embrace of community.

Here’s our guidelines of how we can ensure that this is accomplished.

Please note the following changes:

  • Location change: We will be holding services at The Milleridge Inn, Rosh HaShana in The Quaker Room, and we are going to have an outdoor seating option on Yom Kippur @ The Cottage Atrium for Yom Kippur. Prayer services will be held with social distancing, masks & hand sanitizer provided. Our expectation is that unfortunately there will be smaller crowds than usual, though this will allow for comfortable distancing in our seating arrangements.

  • There is NO Shofar blowing the 1st Day of Rosh HaShana, because it falls on Shabbos.

  • Additional Services at our Chabad House at 82 Forsythia Ln. Jericho, NY 11753

    > Sermon & Psalms Service OUTDOORS at 4:00pm on Shabbos Saturday, September 19th

    > Sermon & Shofar Service OUTDOORS at 4:00pm on Sunday, September 20th

  • We will be limiting physical interaction, so certain functions of our Shul (Torah procession, Aliyahs etc.) will be altered for safety, yet done according to Jewish Law.

  • On Jewish Holidays & Shabbat we refrain from the use of electronic technology, as is prohibited by the Torah. Therefore we will not be streaming or using Zoom for any High Holiday services. We always follow Jewish Law. Those who wish to stay at home, please contact Rabbi Krivisky for information on how to pray properly on these holy days, he is glad to assist you!

  • We would like to make sure those that choose to stay home are taken care of too - materially and spiritually - so that you have Yom Tov food, Machzor prayerbook, ability to safely hear Shofar, meaningful reading material etc. Please contact us so that we can ensure everyone is taken care of.

  • Services will be by Reservation Only. Availability is limited. Please reserve ASAP, so that we can assure your attendance at the service of your choice. Unfortunately, space is limited by government regulation, thereby making reservations essential.

  • By attending High Holiday services, you are confirming that you have not been exposed to anyone with Covid-19 in the previous 14 days and are in good health as per all appropriate health regulations.

  • There will be a security on guard on premises throughout services.

  • We will be monitoring local guidelines and protocols for gatherings, and may need to make adjustments as is necessary. Please check back here to remain updated.

  • Suggested donations are the same as every year, but seating is limited. As always no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Please consider a larger donation in order to ensure our community’s success through this trying time. Even if you cannot attend, your donation is very much appreciated.

WE ALWAYS BELIEVE, TRUST AND HAVE CONVICTION IN G-D’S PROTECTION.

WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER.

MIYAD NEEDS YOU. MIYAD IS ALWAYS HERE FOR YOU. TOGETHER WE CAN SURELY BRING G-D’S BLESSINGS FOR SWEET YEAR INSCRIBED AND SEALED FOR ONLY GOODNESS.
